A record-breaking 22 teams are gearing up for the second edition of the NRL Las Vegas Nines, with the two day event set to kick off at Silverbowl Park on Thursday, February 27. This year’s tournament boasts an impressive 16 North American sides alongside six teams traveling from Australia, showcasing the growing global interest in the competition.
Defending champions, the Sacramento Immortals, face a tough challenge in Group C. They will compete against the British Columbia Bulldogs representative team, Utah’s Provo Broncos, the Atlanta Rhinos from Georgia, and the Brisbane Defence Force Veterans.
Last year’s runners-up, Roots Rugby, will look to improve on their performance in Pool A. They are joined by fellow semi-finalists, the Riverton Seagulls, the West Oz Nomads from Perth, Western Australia, and the Rugby League United Combined team. This combined team features talent from the Delaware Blackfoxes, DC Calvary, and Boston Bears. Also competing in Pool A are the Pacific Coast Rugby League teams, the Razorbacks and the Dead Pelicans.
Running concurrently to the Men’s event will be an Open Age Women’s and Under 18’s Male & Female competitions. The respective draws for these competitions will be announced shortly.
The Sacramento Immortals defeated Roots Rugby 22 – 8 in last year’s Final with 13 teams taking part in the competiton.
