San Diego Barracudas announce schedule for 2025

The San Diego Barracudas have announced their fixtures for the 2025 season, with the west coast club undertaking a strategic shift for the upcoming summer, opting out of USARL-aligned competitions and prioritizing grassroots development and local engagement in the San Diego region.

Following uncertainty around the structure of the Men’s and Women’s USARL seasons, the club has decided that rather than navigating this ambiguity and risk losing valuable players, the club would take a very local focus.

While remaining committed members of both the USARL and the Pacific Coast Rugby League (PCRL), the Barracudas will instead focus their energies on a vibrant schedule of touch football tournaments, engaging intersquad matches, and exciting opportunities to host touring teams. This revised approach allows the club to maintain momentum, keep players active, and showcase the sport to a wider audience in San Diego.

A key pillar of the Barracudas’ 2025 strategy is the expansion of their highly successful youth development program, the Barrakiddos. Throughout the summer months, the club will dedicate resources to broadening the reach of this initiative, nurturing the next generation of rugby league talent in the area. The season draw includes dedicated Barrakiddos scrimmage showcases alongside the senior activities, providing young players with valuable experience and exposure.

The San Diego Barracudas were formed in 2021 and have been active participants in the various Rugby League competitions on the USA’s west coast since, first playing in the Championship Rugby League before joining the Pacific Coast Rugby League.

The Barracudas run both men’s and women’s teams, taking part in both national championships in 2024. The Barracudas took part in the recent NRL Nines tournament in Vegas.
