Las Vegas witnessed a dominant display of women’s rugby league as the LA Roosters emerged as the sole undefeated team in the group stages of the 2025 NRL Vegas Women’s Nines. With five rounds of thrilling action concluded, the Roosters have firmly established themselves as the team to beat.
Formerly known as the LA Bandidos, the rebranded Roosters showcased their prowess with decisive victories against Pro-X Academy from Albert in Canada, the Norths Devils, and Indigenous Mana. Their flawless run has earned them a coveted spot in tomorrow’s Quarter Finals, where they will face the formidable East Palo Alto Razorbacks, runners-up in the USARL Women’s National Championship.
The tournament wasn’t without its upsets. Defending champions, the Ontario Ospreys, experienced their first-ever defeat, a stunning 22-18 loss to the British Columbia Storm in Round 2. Despite rebounding with wins over Santa Rosa, Northern Territory, and East Palo Alto, the Ospreys now face a rematch against the Storm in the first Quarter Final, setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash.
The Quarter Finals will also feature a strong Australian contingent, with the Northern Territory Titans, Indigenous Mana, Norths Devils, and Rengade Rugby battling for a place in the semi-finals. These matchups promise to deliver intense and captivating rugby league action.
While the Cup competition heats up, the Plate Finals are also set to provide thrilling entertainment. Pro-X Academy and the Santa Rosa Dead Pelicans will compete for the chance to advance and face Roots in the Plate Grand Final.
