The USA Hawks men’s and women’s national rugby league teams are poised to make history this February with a groundbreaking doubleheader against the Greek Titans at Silverbowl Park in Las Vegas.
These matches, which form part of the NRL Rugby League in Vegas Weekend, will mark the first time both Hawks teams compete together in a Test Series, showcasing the growing talent within domestic rugby league in the United States.
The three test series will feature players from both the USA and Greek domestic competitions and is part of an expanded international calendar for the USA Hawks.
USA Hawks Head Coach, Sean Rutgerson, outlined his excitement for the historic event. “These games are an incredible opportunity to showcase the progress of rugby league in the U.S.,” he says.
“I’m thrilled to see both teams compete against Greece and continue building the future of our national programs.” He’s particularly looking forward to seeing the contributions of Anson Jiang and Ulice Gilliard for the men’s side, noting their impressive performances during the South Africa tour.
Rutgerson, who is also serving as interim coach for the women’s team, remains optimistic despite their recent setback. “The women’s team has continued to grow and develop over the past few months,” he comments. “This event will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase their talent and resilience.”
